Cakes Mud Madness is an assault-course-meets-fun-run event for
individuals and teams similar
to the world-famous Tough Guy and Grim Challenge events. Competitors
run through a mucky course of fields, ponds and bogs and over obstacles including a tyre pit, foxhole, cargo net and more!
Location & Parking:
The event course is located at Foymore Lodge, 105 Dungannon Road,
Portadown BT62 1QA.
Turn off the M1 at Junction 12 and follow signs for the A4 Dungannon
Road towards Portadown. The location will be signposted from the
Junction 12 roundabout to the event site.
For more information visit
www.foymorelodge.com.
Parking is not available within the grounds at Foymore Lodge. Please
park along the A4 Dungannon Road - this is a main road, please be
careful.
Bins and bin-bags will be provided
around the grounds - will you please ensure all rubbish and unwanted
clothes/shoes/etc are deposited in the bins.
Event proceedings:
Registration will open at
9am on the day of the race. All competitors must register to
receive their goodie bag, t-shirt and timing chip. All competitors
must sign the race declaration before the race (see bottom of page).
Registration will close at 10.30am sharp - anyone who has not
registered their attendance by this time will not be allowed to take
part in the race. A group warm-up will take place at 10.30pm.
The race will start at 11am.
Age Restrictions:
All competitors taking part
in the race must be aged 17 or over on the day of the race.
Photo ID may be requested by staff at registration.
Teams:
Teams should register
together on the day of the race. If for any reason one or more of
your team members has withdrawn or has been replaced please inform
staff at registration and they will amend the database. Any
replacement team members must sign the race declaration.
Teams must have a unique team name - if you have not already chosen
one you will be asked to provide one when you register.
Timing Chips:
Mud Madness now uses a
ChampionChip timing system! This electronic timing system will give
you an accurate finish time and placing.
Competitors will be given their timing chip and race number at
registration. Competitors are responsible for their chips - no
replacement chips will be available. Your race number will be
written on your right hand with marker pen - if you lose your chip
on the course your race number will be used to get your placing and
approximate finish time.
Your timing chip will be attached with a strap around your ankle -
we would advise wearing a pair of socks to secure the chip during
the race.
Charity:
Jaffa Cakes Mud Madness raises
funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care. The entry fee is used to stage
the event and cover all operational costs. We encourage
participants to raise as much money as possible for the event to
fund the care and support to terminally ill patients and their
families that Marie Curie Cancer Care provides. A quick and simple
way of raising your sponsorship money is to set up an online
fundraising page. Every £20 you raise provides 1 hour of nursing
care.
Course:
The course is designed to be challenging for all - whether
you're a serious athlete or just coming along for fun, the Mud
Madness course will fit your needs!
All competitors will do two uneven loops totalling approximately
4.5miles.
All competitors will
receive a post-race drink and tea, coffee and Jaffa Cakes will be
provided by the race organisers - if you wish to make a contribution
to Marie Curie Cancer Care for these all money will go to the
charity. Marie Curie Cancer Care will be selling burgers at the
event also.
Toilets / Changing /
Showers / Clothing / Storage:
There will be a number of toilets on site. Changing facilities are
very limited (marquees / tents). There are no bespoke showers, although
as with previous years we will provide a basic system to help
competitors wash off any excess dirt and mud.
We would advise competitors to arrive in the clothing they intend to
wear racing and bring a change of clothes, towel and some bin bags
for the trip home. Cotton clothing is not advisable to race in as it
will retain water from the ponds as you work through the rest of the
course. From experience the best footwear is a pair of old trainers
with tight laces. Spikes are not permitted and we would advise
against wearing football boots / studs. We would also advise a pair
of socks to go over your timing chip.
We do not have a secure facility for valuables. We can provide an
area for competitors to leave their bags but we would
advise that you leave all valuables at home.
Race Marshals:
There will be marshals at
each of the obstacles and they will be there for your safety and to
assist competitors. Marshals will be incapable of helping all
competitors so we have installed ropes to help you out of obstacles.
Please be courteous, respectful and helpful to all fellow
competitors and staff.
Prizes:
Prizes will be awarded to the fastest three
individual males, individual females and
teams. We also have prizes for best fancy dress, best team name and
a number of spot prizes.
